Kansas City Spring Break for Kids $10 and Under

Spring break kicks off for Kansas City metro schools throughout March and April. Whether you're a KC local or visiting Kansas City for the first time, this is the perfect time to explore the metro without blowing your budget. These family-friendly spots all offer admission for kids at $10 or less, making it easier to get out of the house and make some memories, without overspending.

Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Garden

Kansas Metro

1. Mini Golf at Smiley’s Golf Complex (Lenexa, KS)

Smiley’s Mini Golf offers two fun 18-hole mini-golf courses perfect for some friendly spring break competition. A great spot for soaking up the spring sunshine!

2. Roller Skating at Skate City

During Spring Break from March 16–20, Skate City locations in Overland Park, Shawnee, and Wyandotte are offering discounted skating sessions. A great option if we have rainy weather during spring break!

Cost:

  • Admission: $6–$10 (depending on location)

  • Skate rentals: $3–$4

3. Outdoor Play at Backyard Specialists (Olathe, KS)

This fenced-in outdoor playground showroom is perfect for a spring playdate. Kids can test out the play structures at Backyard Specialists while parents relax. Simple, low-cost outdoor fun!Bring snacks or lunch, a basketball, and stay for the afternoon.

4. Explore the Overland Park Arboretum (Overland Park, KS)

The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a beautiful place to spend a spring day. There are trails, a nature playscape, a train garden, and even an indoor children’s area. This is a great spot to meet up with a friend and let the kids explore.

  • Ages 5–17: $3

  • Adults: $7

5. Spend the Day at Scheels (Overland Park, KS)

Only have a few dollars to spend? Check out Scheels in Overland Park! First of all, it’s just a really cool store with tons of interesting products like outdoor equipment, toys, apparel, and sports equipment. It also has an aquarium upon entry. Plus, you can ride the giant indoor Ferris wheel, play mini-bowling, play arcade games, and try the pretend shooting gallery, all for $1 per activity. Sure, it can add up quickly, but set a $10 limit and let them choose 10 activities!

Bonus: Bass Pro Shops also has fun activities and is a great spot to explore on a rainy day.

6. Unlimited Gaming at KingCade (Overland Park, KS)

If your kids love to play arcade games, purchase a wristband at KingCade in the Oak Park Mall! It’s only $5 for kids under age 10 and $10 for kids/adults over age 10. There is a variety of vintage arcade games, plus newer gaming consoles. They also have board games, pinball, and favorites like Pac Man.

Cost: $4.99 under age 10, $9.99 over age 10 (Mon - Fri)

$6.99 under age 10, $11.99 over age 10 (Sat - Sun)

Missouri Metro

1. Orchid Delirium at Powell Gardens (Kingsville, MO)

Powell Gardens will be showcasing Orchid Delirium, a gorgeous indoor floral display that’s great for a family stroll and photo ops. The outdoor gardens may not be fully in bloom, but it’s still a wonderful place to take a walk in the spring sunshine.

Powell Gardens is open Wednesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. during Orchid Delirium.

  • Kids: $8 (Free ages 4 & under)

  • Adults: $15

2. Budget Movies at Union Station’s Extreme Screen (Kansas City, MO)

Union Station’s Extreme Screen Theatre offers both documentaries and blockbuster movies on a HUGE screen. Seating is first-come, first-served. The Union Station parking garage is $7 for 4 hours. If you want free parking, park at the Central Library garage, get a validation ticket in the children’s section, and then ride the streetcar down to Union Station.

Cost:

  • Matinee at 12:30 PM: $5

  • 4:00 or 7:30 PM: $8

Pro Tip: You could also visit B&B Theaters on a Tuesday for $6 tickets (join their free rewards program) or AMC Theatres (Stubs Members) on Tuesday or Wednesday for 50% off tickets.

3. FREE Fun at the Money Museum (Kansas City, MO)

Located inside the Federal Reserve Bank near the WWI Museum and Memorial, the Money Museum is a hidden gem. Add an educational field trip day to your spring break plans with a visit to this free museum! Learn about the history of money, see the Truman coin collection, design money rubbings, watch cash sorting in action, and try to lift a gold bar. No tickets required, but adults will need a photo ID to enter. Parking is free!

4. FREE Children’s Exhibit at Crown Center (Kansas City, MO)

We always love spending time at the free children’s exhibit at Crown Center! They host three exhibits each year in the Showplace on the lower level. These traveling educational exhibits usually include fun, interactive elements for kids.

The current exhibit, Dinosaurs: Land of Fire & Ice, runs from January through May 10, 2026, and is especially great for children ages 2–8.

You could visit the Money Museum, Crown Center Showplace Exhibit, Kaleidoscope, and the Downtown Central Library for a free day of fun!

Cost: Free (Free 2-hour parking validation available at the exhibit, just scan the QR code)

5. Unlimited Arcade Games at Draftcade (Kansas City, MO)

Draftcade offers $8 wristbands for unlimited retro arcade gaming! This is a great spot to spend time playing classic arcade games, pinball, and more. Plus, they have a great menu so you could grab lunch or dinner during your visit. Draftcade is located at Zona Rosa and right across from the playground. My kids love a day at Zona Rosa! All ages welcome until 8 PM, then it’s 21+.

6. Meet the Alpacas at YaYa’s Alpaca Farm (Garden City, MO)

This sweet, family-run alpaca farm offers fun and educational farm tours by reservation. There are over 70 alpacas and they are super friendly and fluffy! You will fall in love with these cute animals. The farm tour is 1.5-2 hours long and is best for ages 4+!
